Communication is one of the most essential and basic rights of every individual not only because it is a necessity, but also because of the joy that it brings to everyone involved by binding people together. Supporting someone in their journey to utilize this right and thus enjoy relationships is the most rewarding part of being a Speech and Language Therapist.

Everyone is unique. I thus love uncovering the interests, qualities, and strengths that a child or a student does have, and further building on those to help them gain newer skills through playful activities. Both learning and communicating must be fun and not a chore!

I look forward to working not just with the children but also with their family members or caregivers to help build an environment of support and encouragement; so that the child’s language learning and their mental/emotional health flourish.

My favourite word is ‘home’. It reminds me of being completely at ease and being yourself. Theoretically, it is defined as a place where you feel that you belong. I hope that every child/young person that I work with knows that they can be exactly who they are with me. I also aim to create awareness within society to make every individual with speech, language, and communication difficulties feel at home with those around them.

There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do, instead of what he cannot do.
