Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Developmental Language Disorder

I have been working with children with speech, language and communication needs since 2007, and I continue to feel inspired by coming up with creative ways to motivate children to learn speech, language and communication skills, and have been excited to nourish and watch my own children acquire their language and communication skills from day dot.

During lockdown last year when my daughter was not in nursery and I was on maternity leave with my son, I went into full-on SLT mode and we had themed weeks carrying out craft, baking, play and outdoor activities around the Hungry Caterpillar, or Bear Hunt, or pirates, or space - my daughter still talks about it now! I thrive on supporting children’s progress and making an impact not just on their communication skills but on their wider daily lives and relationships, and improving their potential.

My favourite word is 'connection' because I like to make sure I feel connected to the special people in my life e.g. by carrying out special times individually with my children as often as I can, and it also carries a deeper meaning for me following the restrictions on being connected to my friends and family throughout the lockdowns during the pandemic.
