Information about Speech and Language Therapy for you

The first thing your therapist will do as part of your initial assessment is help you to work out exactly what you want to get out of your work with them. This is your therapy journey and it’s important that we work on the things that matter most to you. Your current communication strengths and needs will be evaluated during the initial assessment so that we have a baseline measure of where you are now with your communication skills. Once we have identified clear goals that reflect exactly what you want to achieve and where you want to get to, we will start working through the steps to get there, together. You and your therapist will agree homework activities for you to do in between sessions, to help you work towards your goals. We can involve your friends, colleagues or loved ones in your therapy process if it’s appropriate and if you’d like to.
